 Rule 6. When the subject joined by "or", "nor" are different persons,the verb agrees with the subject nearest to it. e.g 1. Either they or I are mistaken Correct sentence. Either they are or iam mistaken e.g 2. Neither she nor they is speaking the truth. Correct sentence. Neither she nor they are speaking truth Rule.7 A collective noun takes a singular verb when talked of as a whole and a plural verb when we talk of the individual parts of it. e.g the committee have chosen it's president. Correct sentence. The committee has chosen it's president Rule 8. Some nouns which are plural in form but singular in meaning take a singular verb. e.g Mathematics are my favourite subject. Words joined to a singular subject by "with" in addition to "as well as" are supplementary and do not affect the number of the verb. e.g The principal, along with all the teachers have come.  Rule 1. Two or more singular subjects joined by "and" take a plural verb. e.g 1 John and Micky is coming. Correct sentence. John and Micky are coming e.g 2 John,Micky and my home town is a hill station Correct sentence. John,Micky and my home town are hill stations. Rule no 2. Two or more singular subjects joined by "and" used for same person, then then take a singular verb. e.g 1 The designer and the producer of the project have come. Correct sentence. The designer and producer of the project has has come  e.g 2. My mother and my critic are here. Correct sentence. My mother and my critic is here. Rule 3.  If the singular subject preceded by "each" and "every", then the verb is singular. e.g 1. Each of us were afraid of being drowned. Correct sentence. Each of us was afraid of being drowned  e.g, 2 Everyone are playing. Correct sentence. Everyone is playing Rule 4. If two or more singular subjects are joined by "or" or "nor"
